Sickblaze wasn’t born overnight—it’s the result of relentless hard work, countless failures, and endless hours of practice. From perfecting my craft to curating a music library capable of elevating any event, anywhere, Sickblaze is a journey of passion, perseverance, and purpose.

Since childhood, I’ve been immersed in music. Whether it was listening to my favorite tracks or hunting for the highest-quality sounds across every genre, I’ve always been drawn to the art of collecting and sharing music. Growing up in Sri Lanka, I developed a deep appreciation for the rhythms and beats of Sri Lankan music. This cultural influence has shaped my style, blending traditional Sri Lankan elements with western club vibes and upbeat tunes to create something truly unique.

As a teenager, my love for music naturally led me to share it with others. I started creating mixtapes using Virtual DJ, uploading them to SoundCloud, and sharing them with friends. The feedback—both good and bad—helped me grow. I’m especially grateful to the friends who gave me honest critiques, as their input shaped the DJ I am today.

I graduated from Royal College, Colombo, and took my first major step into music during the 2014 Bradby season. As part of a collaborative project by the Royal College Media Unit and Radio Club, FM Royal was launched. I served as the playlist coordinator, managing a collection of over 20,000 songs that I had meticulously curated over the years. My first on-air stage name, DJ Kodikara, still brings a smile to my face—a name my friends gave me that marked the beginning of my public DJ career.

After high school, I pursued a bachelor’s degree in IT, specializing in Business Systems, at Swinburne University, Australia. Before moving to Australia, I joined Nawaloka College of Higher Studies, where I found an incredible opportunity to take my DJing to the next level. I became the go-to DJ for all college events, and in 2015, with the help of one of my closest friends, Sickblaze was born.

From 2015 to 2017, I honed my skills at every event hosted at Nawaloka College. In 2017, I moved to Australia, determined to level up my “side hustle.” Starting with small house parties organized by friends, I began to build a name for myself in a new country.

Today, Sickblaze represents more than just a DJ—it’s a blend of cultural heritage, innovation, and relentless dedication. It’s not about fitting into a genre; it’s about creating an experience. This is what Sickblaze stands for, and this is my story.
